Pirate Printers
Art is not only about what you make, but also how you make it. Take for example the art-collective behind Berlin-based Raubdruckerin (“pirate printer” in German), who found inspiration for their tees right on the street. Literally.
They’re using manhole covers, vents, and utility grates to imprint unique patterns on cloth. And that happens not in some workshop but on-site, right there on the streets. The Pirates already visited Amsterdam, Lisbon, Berlin and Paris and made the results available in their online shop.
Amazingly the patterns look and feel like they were designed specifically for that purpose. Showing that plenty of interesting geometrical shapes and patterns are scattered beneath our feet, just waiting to be explored. So. What are you waiting for?
